From Papers to Tablets: Rajasthan Exams to go Digital Soon!

The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSMSSB) is gearing up for a major change in the way recruitment exams are conducted. In a bid to put an end to frequent paper leaks and enhance transparency, the board has decided to shift from traditional pen-and-paper tests to tablet-based examinations.

This move is being introduced gradually, with pilot projects already underway in collaboration with IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras. The idea is to provide candidates with tablets at the exam centres, where they will answer questions directly on the device. Unlike conventional exams, where question papers are printed and distributed, this system will deliver encrypted question sets directly to the tablets just a few hours before the exam.

Another key feature of this new model is the introduction of AI-generated question papers. These papers will be created on the day of the exam, using advanced algorithms to prepare multiple sets quickly and securely. This approach ensures that no single paper is stored in advance, making the process nearly leak-proof.

For students, the change brings both opportunities and adjustments. Tablets will eliminate the need for OMR sheets, reducing the chances of human error in evaluation. Results are also expected to be processed faster since answers will be recorded digitally. At the same time, candidates may initially feel a learning curve in shifting from paper to digital formats, though the interface will be kept user-friendly.

Officials believe that the model can be scaled to handle 5,000–10,000 candidates at a time, especially in government schools and centres without high-end computer labs. This makes the system more inclusive, even for semi-urban and rural areas.

The RSMSSB’s initiative is not just a technological upgrade but also a confidence-building measure for lakhs of job aspirants in Rajasthan. If it succeeds, it could set a benchmark for other states, pushing India closer towards secure, transparent, and technology-driven recruitment exams.

We hope the best for the upcoming generation.
