The Financial Blueprint: Three Paths to Success

SRIP offers a flexible funding structure to ensure that talent from all backgrounds can participate. The program typically lasts for 8 weeks.

  • Institute Funded: Receive a stipend of ₹10,000 for the 8-week duration. Each department accepts two such interns (one from IIT (ISM) and one non-IIT (ISM) student).
  • Project Funded: Work on specific faculty-led projects with funding up to ₹10,000 provided by the faculty member.
  • Self-Funded: Gain the same high-quality research experience and mentorship without a stipend, working on departmental projects.

Mission Profile: 90 Spots for the Brightest Minds

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad maintains an elite environment by selecting only about 90 SRIP Interns per summer across all categories.

  • Mid-Term Review: After 4 weeks, you will present your progress to an academic committee for feedback.
  • Public Poster Presentation: The program culminates in a public showcase of your work, evaluated by faculty members.
  • Recognition: Exceptional researchers are awarded a Commendation Certificate signed by the Mentor and the Dean (R&D).

Eligibility Snapshot: Do You Have the CGPA?

Selection is rigorous and based on academic excellence, research proposals, and recommendations.

  1. Academic Standing: Preference is given to Pre-Final year students. Students with backlogs or disciplinary records are not eligible.
  2. The CGPA Bar:
    • IITs/IISc: CGPA ≥ 7.5
    • NITs/IISERs/NISER/IIEST: CGPA ≥ 8.0
    • Other Institutes: CGPA ≥ 8.5
  3. National Talent: Both IIT (ISM) and non-IIT (ISM) students are encouraged to apply.

Life at IIT (ISM): Beyond the Lab

All selected non-IIT (ISM) interns are treated as part of the campus community. You will receive a Temporary Institute ID, granting you access to:

  • Library and Computer Centre.
  • High-speed Internet and Departmental research facilities.
  • Sports and Recreation facilities.
  • Health Benefits: Free OPD facility and medicines at the Institute Health Centre, including indoor hospitalization if necessary.

  • Application Fee: Non-IIT (ISM) applicants must pay a non-refundable fee of ₹500 via the Payment Gateway.

  • Endorsement: Your application must be forwarded by your current Head of Department, certifying your clean academic and disciplinary record.
  • Expenses: While research facilities are provided, living expenses must be borne by the intern.
