Who Can Apply?
You’re eligible if you:
✔ Are under 35 years (as of 31 Dec 2026)
✔ Are from a developing country (excluding India)
✔ Hold an MSc in science/technology
✔ Are employed in your home country in a research role
✔ Have an acceptance letter from a CSIR institute
👉 English proficiency is required if your education wasn’t in English.
Two Fellowship Modes
- 🧩 Sandwich Fellowship
- For students already pursuing a PhD
- Duration: 6 months to 3 years
- 🎓 Full-Time Fellowship
- For fresh PhD applicants
- Duration: Up to 4 years
Important Rules to Remember
- ❗ Only one TWAS/OWSD programme per year allowed
- ❗ Must return to your home country after completion
- ❗ No other assignments during the fellowship
- ❗ Family expenses are not covered

Applications are ONLY accepted online via the TWAS portal
Acceptance letter from CSIR = Mandatory
Without it, your application won’t be considered!
Final Selection Timeline
Results expected: End of 2026 / Early 2027
- Fellowship starts: Not before 2027
